Christopher Gunson is a partner based in the Dubai office. He represents numerous multinational companies on all aspects of business in the Middle East region. This work includes commercial transactions, strategic investments, joint ventures, and regulatory compliance.

He is fluent in Japanese and much of his practice involves representing and advising Japanese businesses on matters in the Middle East region.

In addition to his corporate and commercial work, Chris conducts substantial work in the oil and gas sector, and he is a frequent author and commentator in news media concerning developments in the oil and gas sector in Abu Dhabi, Iraq, and Iran.

Ignatius K. Hwang focuses his practice on energy, infrastructure and resources projects in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, particularly China, India, Southeast Asia and Australia.

He advises governments and sponsors on strategic, procurement, legal, commercial and risk issues relating to public-private partnership projects (PPP). He has represented the Singapore government and agencies on almost all PPP projects in Singapore to date, and has helped shaped development of the PPP projects market in Singapore.

Jonathan P. Noble is a local partner in the Dubai office. He advises numerous multinational companies and regional powerhouses on international transactions, company formation, agency and distribution, joint ventures, and corporate governance in the UAE, GCC, and broader MENA region.

As a fluent Arabic speaker, Jonathan frequently manages complex contentious matters in the region including arbitrations, local litigation, internal investigations, compliance reviews, and executive-level employment disputes. 

Pallav Shukla

Pallav Shukla focuses on white-collar crimes and investigations. In addition to commercial disputes, Pallav focuses on defense in anti-corruption and money laundering enforcement and debarment. He also has in-depth experience in pursuing civil and criminal remedies for IPR infringement, data theft; and financial and cyber-crimes. Pallav has strong trial credentials, both, in defense and private prosecution involving such cases. Pallav regularly conducts internal investigations, designs and implements whistle-blower programs and anti-corruption training modules.
Pallav’s practice also focuses on high-stakes industrial and employment disputes. His experience covers a wide range of industries – from defense procurement, industrial manufacturing and real estate to infrastructure projects, life sciences and information technology.

Raphael is the Head of the Corporate and Commercial practice. Having been in practice for 35 years, encompassing both international and local work, he has extensive experience in various areas notably Corporate and Commercial, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Information Technology Law.  
 
In 2017, he advised on a share sale transaction in GHL Systems Berhad to a London-based private equity fund Actis Stark which was identified by The Edge Malaysia as the Best M&A Deal of 2017. His team was also nominated as a finalist for the category of ‘Overseas Practice Law Firm of the Year’ in the Asian Legal Business Malaysia Law Awards of 2018. In the 2020 ranking by International Financial Law Review (IFLR), Raphael was recognised as a Notable Practitioner for M&A in the “Technology and Telecommunications” category. 
 
Raphael has been commended for having not only “an in-depth understanding of both the legal aspects and commercial needs in respect of ICT matters” but also an appreciation for “the pitfalls of the IT and software industry” and the ability to provide “practical legal solutions to our problems.” He provides “sound legal advice” and helped clients “see things from the business perspective, which was very crucial.” 
 
Raphael has been the Chairman of the LAWASIA Moot Standing Committee since 2008 and is the current Chair of the Legal Development and Training Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA). Rod has extensive experience advising on cross-border transactions across a broad range of industries, including aerospace, professional services, retail, real estate, technology, telecoms, funds management, hospitality (restaurants and hotels), industrial manufacturing, oil & gas, logistics, and transportation infrastructure.

With over 18 years of experience in Corporate Laws, Corporate Compliances, and Governance across the consumer goods industry in India, Amit is responsible for Marico’s Legal function in its entirety. He believes in driving results—through collaboration, teamwork, and relationships. He has embodied this throughout his career by always choosing to lead through diverse and challenging situations.

Prior to this, Amit was with Hindustan Unilever for over 13 years across various roles in the Legal department. Most recently, he served as the General Manager, Legal - Customer Development and Corporate Secretarial as well as the Deputy Company Secretary where he was responsible for the overall Secretarial, Corporate and Securities Compliance for HUL as well as the Group Companies. Amit began his career at Liberty Shoes Limited for over 2 years followed by DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited (DSCL) as a Senior Manager for over 2 years where he was responsible for Corporate and Securities Compliances for Group.

Anna

Anna Quah is the Asia Pacific Legal Vice President for UPS, a global leader in logistics with headquarters in Atlanta, from which UPS serves more than 220 countries and territories worldwide. Anna was also a founding member and Chairperson of the UPS Women’s Leadership Development (“WLD”) in Asia Pac.

Prior to joining UPS, Anna practiced maritime and aviation law in Singapore for about 8 years in a boutique shipping law firm, where Anna also presented several papers on maritime law at international conferences organized by the International Bar Association.

Anna has been actively contributing towards the community – including spending almost four weeks in Lower East Side, New York City, supporting homeless individuals recovering from mental illnesses. Anna also supports her local community by delivering dry food rations to needy families for YWCA Singapore monthly.

Anna Quah graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1997 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1998. In her limited spare time, Anna enjoys running, practicing and teaching yoga, bouldering (occasionally) as well as practicing in aerial (circus) arts.

Anushka Chandra is the Head of Corporate Compliance, Asia Pacific, for the Bosch Group. She is a qualified lawyer based in Singapore with more than 16 years of legal experience. She has experience in an extensive range of cross-functional and cross-regional legal and compliance matters, including but not limited to, corporate and commercial law, litigation, white-collar crimes with a specialised focus on anti-bribery and corruption, compliance and risk management, corporate governance, and M&A. She leads of team of legal and compliance professionals across the region and is a trusted advisor to the regional management and a member of the leadership team. Before taking on the role of Regional Head of Corporate Compliance, she led the regional Legal department for the Bosch Group as General Counsel, South East Asia. During her private practice career, April was in the corporate and commercial group of Quisumbing Torres, a member firm of Baker McKenzie. April is qualified to practice law in England and Wales, and the Philippines. She was named one of 5 in house counsels in the 2016 edition of Asian Legal Business’ 40 Under lawyers. Gavin Ingram is General Counsel Asia Pacific and Vice President Strategic Planning for Global Blue, an NYSE listed company. Gavin started his career in private practice as an infrastructure lawyer at Blake Dawson Waldron (as it then was, now Ashursts) and Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills). Gavin holds Law and Commerce degrees from Australia and completed his MBA (with Honors) through the University of Chicago.

Gavin has significant experience in navigating the challenges of Asia’s diverse legal systems.

Helen attended the University of Sheffield, the University of Tilburg, and the University of Law in which she obtained her law degrees. Helen is a TedX speaker and has delivered over 50+ talks globally including at IBA, IPBA, and in the startup/investor scene. She featured in the ALB MENA Super 50 lawyers for 2021. 

Karen
